With the recent purchase AT&T made in buying T-Mobile, there's been some speculation of other Wireless broadband consolidation. Should Verizon Wireless take over Sprint?!? Verizon currently controls 31.3% of the cellular market while Sprint holds 16.1%. Together the two would be an nice 47.4% (for all you calculus fans). AT&T controlled 26.6% of the market before its acquisition of T-Mobile with 12.2% share putting it at comfy top spot with 38.8% market share. Verizon, as a result of AT&T's acquisition, is no longer the top dog in the Wireless provider game and some changes might need to be made in order to regain top market share. While consolidation means less competition among the big guys there's still some advantages of the idea. Spring is hardly using a large portion of their "wireless spectrum" and Verizon could help utilize such potential.
